Edie School – In early 1900’s Idaho eight heads of households could jointly petition the state to create a school district. In 1909, homesteaders in the upper reaches of Medicine Lodge Creek reached this threshold, and District 79 was born. The one-room Edie School built that year was in use until 1956. The mother of the family that “adopted me” while I carried out the mapping for my master’s degree, rode her horse to school in the early 1940’s. In winter, the school was a full day’s sleighride from the nearest town. Image size is 11.25" x 17.5" (designed for standard 18x24 mat and frames). Custom sizes are available upon request. Limited signed edition photograph (signed edition size 25).
