Image from February 2023 from a mid Carnaval (Mardi gras) parade stop for water and drinks in a small town near Oaxaca City known for “alebrijes,” which are wood carvings of real or fantastic creatures painted in bright colors and intricate patterns. They put used car oil over their bodies and paint their faces as masks.
