Mohammad Ali Bhatti
Dr. Mohammad Ali Bhatti is known as a multi-faceted artist. He is an accomplished portrait painter, a celebrated abstract expressionist painter and a southwestern artist. He practices various mediums for his artistic expression, such as oil painting, acrylic, mixed media and watercolor mediums. We love the juxtaposition of the diverse approach; the bold expressive abstract; classic portraiture and the southwestern historical realism. Dr. Bhatti was born in Pakistan. He first came to the US in the early 1990's to earn his MFA from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania; he then earned his PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University, Athens. For the last 30 years, he has painted and exhibited around the world, resulting in 35 solo exhibitions. His work is unique and found in many world-wide collections.
The visual interest in his paintings is heightened by multiple layers of acrylic, oil, resins, spray paint, randomly torn magazine and book pages, design patterns, and calligraphic elements which help him to create rich imagery. He utilizes intense, vibrant colors applied with bold brush strokes which enable him to generate an exciting character to his canvases.
