Barbara Able
Barbara Able’s abstract paintings and delicate watercolors are vivid reflections of her study of culture, art history, and literature. Able pushes the boundaries of her mediums, always seeking to find new expressions of creativity.
Able received a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas, Austin. She had a studio in downtown Houston in the 90’s and was a participant in the first Art Crawls. Able also felt the lure of the southwest by owning a gallery a block off the square in the picturesque town of Santa Fe, New Mexico from 1999-2001. After retiring from her corporate job in 2008, she studied at the Art League of Houston. In 2010, Able traveled to Venice, Italy, to paint en plein air with Leslie Rich. Able joined Archway Gallery in 2013 and has had 3 solo shows.
