Xylina Wu
Artist Bio
Xylina Wu is a Houston-based multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between painting, layered craft, and sculpture. Working across acrylic, oil, and watercolor alongside reclaimed organicmaterials—dried flowers, feathers, driftwood, fallen branches, and salvaged wood—she constructs surfaces that negotiate realism and abstraction. Since beginning her professional practice in 2018, Wu has established a strong exhibition record, earning multiple awards in local juried exhibitions and selection into numerous international juried shows. Herwork is held in private collections.
Born in China with Russian roots and shaped by a background in science and education, Wu approaches material as both inquiry and archive. Her ongoing body of work, What Remains, considers preservation as a form of attention—an act that resists environmental loss while foregrounding fragility, reuse, and
endurance. Through deliberate layering and material accumulation, her work asks what persists when care is applied to what might otherwise be discarded.
