When I started this creative journey four years ago, it was inspired by the loss of my partner. I needed some way of releasing my hurt and pain so I turned to the one thing that was dormant inside me for over 30 years.
Through experimentation, I began using soot from either candles or kerosene; the resulting flow of the smoke gives the artwork an ethereal feeling. “Nerak” is my partner’s name spelled backwards.
