Pitfired Ceramic

11x8

The Jug Drum is an ancient instrument found under different names in a variety of places including India and Africa. It is played with the hands by tapping, striking or rubbing to cause the clay to ring or the air inside to vibrate. The rhythmic sounds can calm the spirit and remove stress, and they can join people together in a musical setting. The Pit fire surface decoration is created with seaweed, donkey dung, dried fruit and vegetable skins, seeds, pinecones, etc. in the fire and smoke of this process.

Shipping ceramics requires special packing considerations and will be quoted upon request.
