My koi sculptures were inspired by the beautiful butterfly koi I first saw at the airport in Guayaquil. Their tails and fins are larger than what a typical koi would have and appear ruffled. Butterfly koi were actually developed in the United States by breeding standard colorful koi with long-finned but drab-colored carp found in Indonesia. A beautiful result.
