The pandemic has given us a small taste of what ancient plagues must have been like. No wonder death is so prevalent in medieval art. These works employ the candle as a reminder of the fragility of life. Endurance is a diptych with a comment on modernity: the LED outlasting its wax predecessor (I really did let them run out to see which would survive).
