Join Archway Gallery for a special recital with violinist Curtis Macomber and cellist Norman Fischer as they offer an evening of great music by Beethoven, Carter, Lerdhal and Ravel. The recital will take place at Archway Gallery on Sunday, March 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. There is no better way to enjoy this great music than to be surrounded by great art!
About the artists:
Violinist Curtis Macomber is considered one of the most versatile soloists and chamber musicians before the public today, with a discography ranging from complete Brahms String Quartets to the Roger Sessions Solo Sonata to the complete Grieg and Brahms Sonatas. He has performed in hundreds of premieres, commissions and first recordings of solo violin and chamber works. Mr. Macomber is a member of the chamber music faculty of the Juilliard School and the violin faculty of the Manhattan and Mannes Schools.
Norman Fischer has concertized on five continents and in 49 of the 50 United States. Mr. Fischer is the cellist with the Fischer Duo, a group with pianist Jeanne Kierman that was founded in 1971. They have over a dozen recordings and premiered over 30 new scores. He is currently Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Cello and Director of Chamber Music at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston.
