Katherine Rodgers
I’m Katherine Rodgers, a self-taught watercolor artist inspired by the beauty and unpredictability of nature. For me, watercolor is a balance of control and spontaneity; a medium that mirrors the rhythms of the natural world. I aim to capture the delicate essence of flowers, landscapes, and birds with fluid brushstrokes and a mindful, emotional approach.
Although I studied nursing, art has always been part of who I am. Over the past 24 years, my family has moved 12 times across the U.S. and abroad. When we settled in Washington, DC, in 2016, I began painting more seriously, eventually exhibiting my work locally. I found community in local art groups, and nature became my constant muse through all our relocations. Now based in Texas, I teach beginner watercolor classes through the Watercolor Art Society of Houston and share a studio at Sawyer Yards. The vibrant urban surroundings continue to inspire my creative journey as I strive to share moments of serenity through my work. See the artist's work in the store. |
