Akua Inks and Monoprints Workshop

The Ink&Image Akua Inks Workshop will be led by Junanne Peck, who is an interdisciplinary artist with printmaking as her primary art form. She is a seasoned educator and teaching artist in the DFW area. Junanne Peck is also a TXO Artist (Texas Original Artist) selected by the Texas Commission on the Arts. The focus of the workshop is monoprints, which are one-of-a-kind prints using simple techniques. This hands-on demonstration and workshop will provide a basic introduction to the use of the Pin Press in creating monoprints and an introduction to Akua Inks, the professional line of inks from Speedball. Participants will learn how to produce a printing plate from an original drawing or design and will become familiar with printmaking processes, tools, and techniques using non-toxic water-based Akua Inks. Emphasis will be on color, visual texture, line and composition.
This is a FREE workshop and you must register by Saturday, May 30 2015. It is first come first served on the list. The workshop is limited to 15; there will be a waiting list. Qualifications: Attendees must be over 18 yrs. of age and have a strong interest in printmaking.
Please bring: A roll of paper towels, rubber or latex gloves, smock or old clothes & any tools / brushes you may want to use.
Provided by workshop: Brayers, printing plates, Akua ink, printing paper, wiping cloth, various tools / brushes.
A light lunch will be provided.
