Diane Fraser
Diane Fraser
Through reading, remembering and observing I form an image in my mind. I embellish the image utilizing historical, personal and subconscious memory. I paint the image. I paint over the image and reconstruct the image. I add inscribed handwriting and mark making. I experiment with legible and illegible script, letter slant and spacing, tilt of word line, shakiness of script, varying degrees of visibility obscured by erasure and overlay. The result is a casual quiet informal abstraction teetering on the brink of chaos.
