Damon Thomas
Damon J. Thomas creates figurative and abstract sculptures that explore the emotional range of the human condition. His primary material is clay, which he often combines with found objects for an added layer of texture and history.
Damon received a certificate of achievement in ceramics from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Glassell School of Art in 2015. He has a master’s degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin, so storytelling and research frequently inform his process.
Damon's work has been exhibited at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Art League Houston, Art Car Museum, Artspace111, SITE Gallery and Lone Star College – Cy-Fair. He is currently working on an upcoming solo show at Archway Gallery for September 2022, titled “Land, Sea, Sky.” A native Houstonian, Damon lives and works from his home and studio in the Houston Heights, just a few miles from where he was born.
