Artist Statement

While sensing the profound imbalance in nature and human existence on our planet, I have become aware of some simple and yet awakening truths through a much ignored and humbled People - those of the indigenous cultures of the Americas.

This was especially true for me in Mexico, where I was charmed by the warm spirit of this culture and their gracious ways of knowing.  

Using brightly colored oils on wood, I paint with a hint of familiar rustic, cultural folk art that has gone animated-contemporary.  In this way, I hope to convey the obvious struggle of modern life and cherished, ancient ritual existing in the same moment. 

As I approach this perspective of these enlightened Beings and their deeply spiritual Truth, I hope to convey their vital, universal message in these most complex and uncertain times.
